Daya

FAQs

  • Is Daya a VC fund?
No, Daya is not a VC fund. Daya Ventures operates as the world’s first VC-backed FemTech venture studio, systematically building and scaling multiple high-growth startups targeting the $1T+ gender health gap—one of healthcare's most underserved and underinvested areas.

Unlike traditional accelerators, incubators, or venture capital funds, our model takes an active role in creating startups from scratch. We proactively identify high-impact, validated market needs by collaborating directly with stakeholders such as researchers, clinicians, patient advocates, and industry experts. Through structured interventions and validation workshops, we ensure that every venture addresses a genuine, scalable market gap before incorporation.

Is Daya an accelerator or an incubator?
Daya is both - and more. We are a venture studio, meaning we actively create startups ourselves by generating ideas internally, build prototypes,  assemble teams and provide operational support from day one. We also run an accelerator that supports existing femtech startups. Unlike traditional incubators, which primarily provide office space and basic resources, we take a hands-on approach in building, scaling, and guiding companies in women’s health.

    What is femtech?
At Daya we define Femtech as Technological solutions addressing issues that exclusively affect women, disproportionately affect women, or impact women differently.

At Daya, we categorize femtech into two main types:

    • Physiological Femtech: Directly linked to female-specific biology (e.g., fertility tracking, menstrual health, maternal care).

    • Contextual Femtech: Broader innovations that impact women’s health due to systemic differences (e.g., domestic violence, equal opportunities, division of labor, gender wealth gap)

How do you determine which startups to build?
At Daya, we don’t just identify gaps in women’s health - we intervene. Our approach is proactive and data-driven. We analyze where the biggest unmet needs are, considering scientific advancements, market demand, and systemic barriers. When we see an opportunity where innovation can create real impact, we step in to build the solution.

    This means:

    • We identify underserved areas in women’s health.

    • We intervene by bringing together the right team, research, and strategy.

    • We build the startup from the ground up, ensuring it has the best foundation for success.

Unlike traditional incubators or accelerators that wait for founders to apply, we actively create startups ourselves. This ensures that solutions are not just visionary, but necessary.

    Does Daya invest in startups?
We do not invest directly in startups ourselves. However, we play a crucial role in helping them secure funding by:

    • De-risking investments: We validate early, ensuring that investors fund real businesses, not just ideas.

    • Structuring for success: From day one, we design equity and strategy to keep founders motivated and investable throughout their entire capital journey.

    • Connecting with the right investors: We leverage our extensive network to match startups with the right investors at the right time.

While we don’t operate a VC fund, we make sure the startups we build and accelerate are positioned for long-term funding success.

    How does Daya support startups?
Startups in our Accelerator receive hands-on, tailored support to navigate the complexities of building and scaling a femtech business. We provide:

    • Investor Readiness: We connect founders with the right investors and refine their fundraising strategy. From day one, we structure equity and strategy to keep founders motivated and investable throughout their entire capital journey.

    • Research & Validation: We support startups in leveraging research and building the evidence they need to scale. By validating early, we de-risk investments so investors fund real businesses, not just ideas.

    • Expert-Led Guidance: Startups gain access to industry leaders, clinicians, regulatory experts, and experienced operators to accelerate growth.

    • Market & Partnerships: We amplify femtech voices and open doors to key partnerships, helping founders break through industry taboos and scale effectively.

    • Community & Network: We provide a strong ecosystem of like-minded founders, experts, and investors passionate about transforming women’s health.

Our goal is to make sure that impactful technical solutions to prominent women’s health issues become reality and reach the women who need them.

Is Daya only for Swedish startups?

This means startups don’t need to relocate or be based in Sweden to access our support. Our network, resources, and expertise are designed to be accessible regardless of location.

  • How can I apply to the Daya Accelerator?
